Teaching Practice

As a teaching practice of the University of Nottingham, there are times when medical students will be with us. If your consultation is during these times you will be advised by the reception team that they will be part of your consultation. Please advise the reception team member when you arrive if this will cause you a concern as we can very easily make alternative arrangements to allow for you to have a one to one consultation with your doctor.

The practice is delighted to have received the following comments from the 2016/17 placement year.

Final Year (CP3) Primary Care Attachment - Student Feedback 2016/17

Positive Comments:

  • Absolutely fantastic experience. The best placement of Med School by far. Very well organised
by the surgery, wide variety of experiences and I was given lots of opportunity to take
responsibility. The project was well supported and a great experience. Imperial Road Surgery
in Matlock was the best placement any student could ask for.

  • Excellent GP practice. All members of staff were very welcoming from the start and made me
feel at home. Dr Emmerson my GP tutor was excellent and gave great teaching in between
seeing patients both by myself and with him. It was also very useful spending time with the
other GPs, nurses, community matrons and admin staff because it gave me a good
understanding of how general practice works on the whole in the community. It was worth
    the long Drive from Nottingham!
